Tanzania, Land of the Safari

The word "Safari" - to journey, originates in East Africa. It is no wonder that Tanzania remains the ultimate hunting and adventure destination in Africa. More than a quarter of its land is set aside as National Parks, Game Reserves, Game Controlled Areas and Wildlife Management Areas. Huge parts of Tanzania are so remote from towns and villages that access is only feasible by air; these areas form the primary hunting destinations. Once on safari, you may never encounter another vehicle or person other than your highly trained safari team. You will truly feel that the land and our services are there just for you to enjoy.

None of Tanzania's wilderness areas are fenced and game is free to move to wherever conditions are most attractive. This freedom of movement sets Tanzania apart from other countries, leaving visitors with a sense of wonder at the vastness of the land and abundance of game not found elsewhere in Africa

Tanzania is located along the eastern coast of Africa, just south of the equator. It borders Kenya to the North, Uganda to the Northwest, Rwanda, Burundi and The Democratic Republic of Congo to the West, and Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique to the South.

Mainland Tanganyika and the islands of Zanzibar and Pemba formed a political and economic union after Tanganyika gained independence from Britain in 1961. Together, they form Tanzania. Tanzania covers an area of 352,720 square miles and has a friendly and relatively small population. Most Tanzanians live along the coast, in the Northern and Southern Highlands or in the Lake Victoria Basin to the Northwest.

Hunting for Conservation

Tanzania's wildlife depends upon hunting for its long-term survival. Revenue from you, our hunting clients, directly supports the efforts of Tanzania's Wildlife Department, which is responsible for the continued protection of wildlife areas.

As our client, you also contribute to the Friedkin Conservation Fund (FCF). FCF provides logistical support and manpower for anti-poaching operations throughout the year. They also assist in developing a better understanding of the value of wildlife through Community development projects.

We aim to ensure that lion, leopard, buffalo, kudu and other animals that you may hunt while on safari, enjoy a continued secure environment, so that in the future, your sons and daughters may experience these animals on safari.

Hunting Ethics

We are committed to providing our clients with a superlative hunting experience. We believe it is important that both you and our Professional Hunters be proud of the way in which hunts are conducted and the manner in which any animal hunted is killed. Although Tanzania is renowned for excellent trophy quality, it is the thrill of the chase that should motivate you to go on safari. We want you to remember your safari for the unique atmosphere of the African bush, the people, animals, skills, sights, smells and sounds that you encounter in Tanzania.

zebraWe are committed to maintaining a long tradition of ethical hunting, and not merely providing opportunity for indiscriminate killing of animals. Hunting plays a crucial role in conserving vast areas of Tanzania's wilderness and the wildlife that lives there. However, it will only be able to continue to do so if hunting is conducted in a responsible and ethical manner. All of our Professional Hunters and safari clients are party to this responsibility.

You will need to be reasonably fit, capable of carrying your own firearm and willing to walk to seek your intended trophy. You will be hunting for mature male specimens only, and we ask you to accept the judgment of your Professional hunter when it comes to trophy quality. Not every male specimen you encounter will be of trophy quality and you should be prepared for this possibility. Our guarantee is to endeavor to provide you opportunities to shoot top quality trophies in a fair and sportsman like manner.

Hunting Season

The hunting season begins on July 1st and ends on December 31st.
