Tanzania is a malarial area, and precautions must be taken throughout the year. We recommend that you check with your doctor or local health authority at least one month before departure for details of health regulations and immunization requirements. Yellow Fever vaccinations are required for entry into Tanzania, while cholera, typhoid and tetanus vaccinations are often recommended. Although we carry comprehensive medical boxes in our camps, please bring with you, any special medication essential for your well being. We strongly advise all our clients to have valid health insurance while on safari. Flying Medical Service The Flying Doctor Service Evacuates Patients to Nairobi Hospital This is an air medical service, which we will summon from Nairobi in Kenya to your assistance in the case of a genuine emergency. Each flight carries a fully qualified doctor and lifesaving medical equipment. Flying Medical Services can consult with a specialist before the plane has landed, and if need be, arrange for certain preparations to be made at the hospital for a patient's arrival. Flying Medical Services are a rescue operation that can only be used in the case of genuine emergencies. If the Flying Doctor considers the situation not to be an emergency, the person concerned will be charged normal air charter rates. If emergency cover is purchased, no charges will be made for emergencies that require a collection from the field, i.e. serious illness or injury. Flying Medical Services do not operate after dark, as there are no landing lights in the bush. To enroll in this program, you must purchase this coverage, available for under $100. Travel Documents & Vaccinations It is your responsibility to ensure that passports, visas, travel permits, health certificates, inoculations, international driving license, or other documentation required for the trip are obtained and are in order. It is your responsibility to meet any additional costs incurred either by yourself (or by TGTS on your behalf) because of any failure by you to comply with such requirements.
